Títol:
'Il Sermone del Signore sulla montagna'. Una visione mistica della morale cristiana: Agostino, Tommaso d'Aquino, Beato Angelico, S. Pinckaers
Descripció:
The article uses the De Sermone Domini in Monte by Saint Augustine as its point of departure. Augustine’s commentary on the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5-7) demonstrates the “perfect model of Christian life as it tends towards the highest morality.” Saint Thomas Aquinas became very interested in the Sermon on the Mount as well as in the Augustinian commentary in his attempt to structure his moral perspective in the Summa Theologica. In his depiction of the Sermon, the Angelic Doctor takes up Augustine’s trail while artistically representing Thomistic theology. The connection between the Sermon on the Mount and the reading of Augustine “through Thomas” characterize the moral theology proposed by Servais Pinckaers. In these authors the culmination of the moral perspective is to continually lead Christians towards becoming “sons of God” (Jn. 1:12). The process begins with listening to the Holy Scriptures, progressing along the path of the Beatitudes, while through the action of the Holy Spirit, our adoption as sons takes place. our adoption is lived through the contemplation of the Truth and in the prayer of the “our Father”. The mystical vision of Christian morality is attained in this way, as it is inspired by Holy Scripture and rendered possible through the grace of Jesus Christ. He is the wise and faithful friend that gives us the “new law” of love so that we may put his words into practice.
