Deskribapen:: O presente artigo tem por objetivo apresentar a contribuição dos frades mendicantes (dominicanos e franciscanos) para a manutenção do regime de verdade da Igreja Romana durante o século XIII, regime que se encontra em constante construção/reconstrução desde o século XI. Adotando como ponto de partida as ideias de Michel Foucault, o texto discorre sobre mecanismos, instâncias, maneiras e status envolvidos no processo responsável por transformar um discurso em verdade para determinada sociedade. Para tanto, será abordado um caso: a sociedade do Ocidente medieval, mais especificamente da região da península Itálica.; This article aims to present the contribution of the mendicant friars (Dominicans and Franciscans) to the maintenance of the regime of truth of the Roman Church during the 13th century, regime which has been in constant construction/reconstruction since the 11th century. Taking Michel Foucault's ideas as a starting point, the text discusses the mechanisms, instances, ways and status involved in the process responsible for transforming a discourse into truth for a given society. To this, will be addressed one case: the society of the Medieval West, more specifically from the Italian peninsula region.; Humanidades
