Deskribapen:: In this presentation of the Special Issue on Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education we first review the contemporary panorama of research in early childhood mathematics education. Based on this review, we argue and characterise the teaching of statistics and probability from 3 years old: the purposes (what is it taught for? and why is it taught?), the practices (how is it taught?) and the organisation of teaching (when is it taught? and what is it taught?). It is concluded that the joint consideration of these dimensions contributes to the expansion and consolidation of the teaching of Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education; En esta presentación del Número Monográfico sobre Estadística y Probabilidad en Educación Infantil se revisa, en primer lugar, el panorama contemporáneo de la investigación en educación matemática infantil. Con base en esta revisión, se argumenta y caracteriza la enseñanza de la estadística y la probabilidad a partir de los tres años: las finalidades (¿para qué se enseña? y ¿por qué se enseña?), las prácticas (¿cómo se enseña?) y la organización de la enseñanza (¿cuándo se enseña? y ¿qué se enseña?). Se concluye que la consideración conjunta de estas dimensiones contribuye a la ampliación y consolidación de la didáctica de la estadística y la probabilidad en Educación Infantil

        <mods:abstract>In this presentation of the Special Issue on Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education we first review the contemporary panorama of research in early childhood mathematics education. Based on this review, we argue and characterise the teaching of statistics and probability from 3 years old: the purposes (what is it taught for? and why is it taught?), the practices (how is it taught?) and the organisation of teaching (when is it taught? and what is it taught?). It is concluded that the joint consideration of these dimensions contributes to the expansion and consolidation of the teaching of Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education</mods:abstract>

9. <dcterms:abstract>In this presentation of the Special Issue on Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education we first review the contemporary panorama of research in early childhood mathematics education. Based on this review, we argue and characterise the teaching of statistics and probability from 3 years old: the purposes (what is it taught for? and why is it taught?), the practices (how is it taught?) and the organisation of teaching (when is it taught? and what is it taught?). It is concluded that the joint consideration of these dimensions contributes to the expansion and consolidation of the teaching of Statistics and Probability in Early Childhood Education</dcterms:abstract>

Con base en esta revisión, se argumenta y caracteriza la enseñanza de la estadística y la probabilidad a partir de los tres años: las finalidades (¿para qué se enseña? y ¿por qué se enseña?), las prácticas (¿cómo se enseña?) y la organización de la enseñanza (¿cuándo se enseña? y ¿qué se enseña?).
