<dc:description lang="en-US">DACTYLS is an alternative tactile communication system, in which messages are emitted and received through touch, following the structure of oral language. Its operation is based on the combined use of the tactile fingerprint alphabet and the use of tactile signs and resources, mostly taken from sign language and other newly created ones. Signs adapted for their tactile perception on the palm of the hand, mainly, but also on other parts of the hand, arm and even the shoulder of the deafblind person, and other parts of the hand and, based on some grammatical rules that govern its operation.</dc:description>
<dc:description lang="es-ES">DACTYLS es un sistema alternativo de comunicación táctil, en el que los mensajes se emiten y se reciben a través del tacto, siguiendo la estructura de la lengua oral. Basa su funcionamiento en el uso combinado del alfabeto dactilológico táctil y la utilización de signos y recursos táctiles, tomados en su mayoría de la lengua de signos y otros de nueva creación. Signos adaptados para su percepción táctil sobre la palma de la mano, fundamentalmente, aunque también sobre otras partes de la mano, brazo y hasta el hombro de la persona sordociega, y otras partes de la mano y, en base a unas reglas gramaticales que rigen su funcionamiento. </dc:description>
