Descripción:: The article examines the concept known as relation fight-support in order to evaluate the strengthening of the Colombian armed forces. It emphasizes how in the last decades, and in an erroneous way, it has been argued that an increase in the number of fighters, in detriment of the number of persons that offer support for the battle, leads necessarily to an increase in the fighting capacity. Contrary to this, it stands for the establishment of priorities, the assignment of specific tasks and the improvement in the use of the resources. It is suggested that quantity is not synonym of quality, and it stands for the need to professionalize the military forces.; El artículo retoma el concepto conocido como relación combate-apoyo (RCA) para evaluar el fortalecimiento de las FF.MM colombianas. Destaca cómo en las últimas décadas, y de manera errónea, se ha pretendido que un aumento del pie de fuerza en combate, en detrimento del número de personas que brindan apoyo para el combate, acarrea necesariamente un aumento en la capacidad de combate. Contrario a esto, argumenta en favor del establecimiento de prioridades, la asignación de tareas específicas y el mejoramiento en el empleo de los recursos. Se sugiere que cantidad no es sinónimo de calidad y se aboga por una mayor profesionalización de las FF.MM.
