   10. <dc:description lang="en-US">This paper aims to apply the analogue-building model designed by Taub (2001) to the depiction of some basic metaphors present in the lexicon of uruguayan sign language. This allows us to show how iconicity and metaphor interact to expand the meaning of signs linked to specific referents (iconic) onto more abstract concepts, contrary to other more traditional views that stated that iconicity's role in sign languages is irrelevant or that its mere existence would prevent them from being used in symbolic thought. Lexical signs are also categorized based on the definitions of ontological and orientational metaphor posited by Lakoff and Johnson (1980), showing how Cognitive Linguistics provide a theoretical framework suitable for the analysis of these phenomena, accordingly to what other recently published papers have also shown.</dc:description>

   11. <dc:description lang="es-ES">El presente trabajo busca aplicar el analogue-building model postulado por Taub (2001) a la descripción de algunas metáforas presentes en el léxico básico de la lengua de señas uruguaya. Esto permite mostrar cómo la iconicidad y la metáfora se articulan entre sí para que las señas vinculadas a referentes concretos (icónicas) extiendan su significado hacia conceptos más abstractos, contrario a posturas más tradicionales que defendían la idea de que la iconicidad no tiene un rol relevante en estas lenguas y de que su existencia impediría su uso en el razonamiento simbólico.Además de la descripción basada en el modelo de Taub (2001), se clasifica a las piezas léxicas registradas de acuerdo a las definiciones de metáfora ontológica y metáfora orientacional propuestas por Lakoff y Johnson (1980), mostrando cómo la Lingüística Cognitiva ofrece un marco teórico idóneo para el análisis de este fenómeno, en consonancia con otros trabajos publicados recientemente.</dc:description>
