<dc:description>This study aimed to identify fathers and mothers� desired projects related to their children, and strategies used to achieve them in the educative process. Eight couples, with an average social-economic-cultural level, were home interviewed. They had at least one school age child and lived at Porto Alegre. Interview content analysis made possible to identify projects such as: professional training, personal development, family constitution. It was also possible to identify a category of answers that was called freedom for the children to build their own projects. Professional training investment, comfort investment, dialogue, care, egalitarian treatment between children, respect by children�s interests and pedagogical instrumentalization were perceived as strategies used by these parents to achieve their projects. Professional training was seen by the participants as highly worth it. All parents interviewed prospect their children in an adult life.</dc:description>
<dc:description>O presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar quais os projetos que pais e mães manifestam ter para seus filhos, assim como as estratégias que utilizam no processo educativo a fim de concretizá-los. Foram entrevistados, em suas residências, oito casais que coabitavam, de nível socioeconômico-cultural médio, com pelo menos um filho em idade escolar, residentes em Porto Alegre. A partir da análise de conteúdo das entrevistas, foi possível constatar projetos tais como: formação profissional, formação pessoal e constituir família. Também se encontrou uma categoria de respostas a qual denominamos de liberdade para que os filhos construam seus próprios projetos. Quanto às estratégias para concretizar tais projetos, identificou-se: investimento na formação profissional, em conforto, diálogo, cuidado, tratamento igualitário entre os filhos, respeito pelos interesses dos filhos e instrumentalização pedagógica. Os entrevistados evidenciaram a valorização da formação profissional de seus filhos. Todos os pais e mães entrevistados prospectam seus filhos numa vida adulta.</dc:description>
